Ashleigh Beech LLB BSocSc

I hold a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Social Sciences. I am admitted to the Bar and have held a practicing certificate. I began my legal career as a barrister working for Philip Morgan QC at Thackeray Chambers which included providing support to the other members of Chambers. I have knowledge of criminal law. That puts me in a unique position to advance section 27 reports to the Courts. I provide my service with the understanding of the Sentencing Act, Criminal Procedure Act and all other relevant legislation including my social science knowledge.

As part of my role as a barrister I have prepared many sets of sentencing and sentence indication submissions. I have experience with pre-sentence reports, communication assistance and interpreters. My unique set of skills means that I understand your requirements, I understand the timeframes and I understand the procedure.

What complements my legal background is my Bachelor of Social Sciences. My social science background assists me in working with and understanding your clients to articulate how their background and/or culture may have contributed to the offending they will be sentenced for.

I was the recipient of a Prime Minister’s Scholarship for Asia - a six-week cultural and academic experience in Vietnam. I was an advocate for the Waikato Student’s Union and a caseworker at Community Law Waikato. These experiences have all allowed me to work with a diverse range of people.

I make a promise to all my clients that I will not take instructions if those instructions cannot be completed in time. I know how important it is to have submissions filed on time to ensure they are on the Court file for the sentencing Judge to have considered them prior to sentencing.
